Manta Dive is located on the beach of Gili Trawangan, an idyllic island north west of Lombok, just east of Bali. Marcus and Antony manage the dive shop throughout the year and will gladly answer any questions you may have in regards to getting here, accommodation, diving, or anything else. Together with our instructors and Divemasters, we offer a wealth of diving experience unequalled in Lombok and the Gilis, ensuring that dive courses and fun dives are conducted in both a safe and enjoyable manner. Manta dive is a member of PADI (R6278) and has recently upgraded to become an SSI Platinum Instructor Training facility, making us the only dive center in the Lombok region offering both PADI and SSI courses from beginner to Instructor level. Working on the basis that ‘a night under the stars’ is just about as romantic as you can get, we have designed and built eight incredibly classy bungalows at our delightful beachfront location. The bungalows are based on a traditional rice barn, with a high roof and generous balcony where you can relax enjoy the sunset. The natural building materials used are finished to Western standards with A/C, mini-bar, safety deposit box, and luxurious bedding. The contemporary Asian fusion is completed by the elegant outdoor bathroom. Our bungalows represent not only great value for excellent lodgings but also possibly the shortest stagger from bed to dive boat conceivable. It’s just a short commute of about 60 metres from crisp white bed linen to clear blue water through the inclusive breakfast. Of course, it’s not entirely mandatory to go diving if you stay with us, though we might look at you funny if you don’t. We can therefore suggest and arrange all sorts of other activities such as golf, horse riding, snorkeling and tennis. We also provide many activities such as our on-site masseur, relaxing in our hammocks, by the pool or chilling in one of our berugas, while sampling our local and Western food. FACILITIES Family Friendly: A lot of the westerners living on the Gilis now have children. This has lead to an increase in the availability of nannies and babysitters day and night. The islanders are great with kids and with the absence of motorized transport, the islands are very child friendly. Dive Shop and Dive School: We have a broad range of dive equipment for rental in the dive school and for resale in the dive shop at highly competitive prices. Nitrox fills and courses available. We stock a wide range of brands and models from a variety of manufacturers e.g. Aqua Lung, Technisub, Mares, Suunto, and Sea & Sea. Dive Boats: Our "fleet" of two traditional Indonesia boats with outriggers provides a comfortable ride to and from the dive sites. Departure is from directly in front of the dive shop and the dive sites are all reached within 20 minutes. For the non-diver you can snorkel or sunbathe on deck. Accommodation: Eight traditional bungalows set in a peaceful garden. The contemporary Asian fusion is completed by the elegant outdoor bathroom. Just Opened: Four two-bedroom villas. Perfect for groups or families these spacious villas offer privacy yet are still close to the beach, bars, and restaurants. Each villa has open plan kitchen/living/dining room, en-suite bathrooms and swimming pool. Facilities also include A/C, internet, satellite TV, DVD, stereo, maid service, and breakfast. Photography/ Videography: Digital underwater cameras are available to rent for fun dives and on dive courses. If you've got your own camera and u/w housing but are still a novice, why not take the Digital photography course and improve your underwater photography skills. Bar and Restaurant: Serves a wide range of Indonesian and continental food, beer, soft drinks and more beer.

From Ali the legendary massage man. Available at very reasonable rates: 60,000Rp (approx $7) per hour.
First Aid:
Oxygen is always in our boats and in the dive center, as is a First Aid kit. Our staff are trained in basic First Aid, rescue breathing and CPR.
Speed Boat: For fast transfers to and from Lombok.
Swimming Pool: Our swimming pool is currently being extended to give student divers more space. We are also widening the pool and adding a beach area to allow hotel guests somewhere to cool down even when divers are in the main part of the pool. A larger area for sun beds is also being added next to the pool to lounge around. We also have hammocks and a large baruga (essentially a chill-out area on stilts) where you can relax, read the paper, or play games. Games: Include an assortment of board games, Backgammon, chess, cribbage, boules and cards. Complimentary drinking water is included with all courses and fun dives, as is use of the fresh water shower and secure storage.
FUN DIVES MANTA DIVE GILI All dive sites are within a 15-20 minute boat journey, which means you actually spend most of your time diving rather than sitting in a boat! Herman, our affable head guide, has been diving here for 14 years and appears to be on first name terms with all the marine life in the area. We send only two buddy teams with each guide providing you with a very relaxed diving environment. Oxygen is on board, as well as drinking water. Most of our dives are drift dives, so the boat picks you up at the end of the dive. Our dive sites offer a broad range of topography, including sea mounds, slopes, canyons, walls and flatter areas, providing a wide selection for divers of all levels. Typically, we encounter black and white tip reef sharks, stingrays, octopus, cuttlefish, moray and ribbon eels, a variety of scorpion and lionfish, clams, sea snakes, silly amounts of turtles and a bewildering amount of fish. If you're into the small stuff, Hans Reef is great for 'Muck Diving', where frogfish and pipefish are the highlight. Thousands of species dwell in these waters, which also include mantas, eagle rays, leopard sharks, and large pelagics. Dives are generally at 9am, 11:30am and 2pm, night dives typically begin at 7pm, and we expect you around ½ hour beforehand to arrange equipment, so we can make all the necessary pre-dive checks and briefings. |
